August Review: Cloma Pharma Black Spider

Cloma Pharma Black Spider – 100 Capsules

It’s almost impossible to find herbal energizers that contain ephedra these days.  Don’t believe me?  Just type the name of a popular weight loss supplement + “ephedra” into Google and see what pops up.  Crickets.

Since the great ephedra ban of 2004, I’ve been searching for a legit energy/weight loss supplement but have come up empty-handed.  Enter Cloma Pharma, the self-proclaimed king of “grey-market stimulants”.  Their product line includes cleverly-named items like China White, Methyldrene and Asia Black.  I chose to try Black Spider, which contains 25 mg ephedra extract plus caffeine, yohimbe, synephrine, ginseng and B vitamins.

I opened up a capsule and dumped out half since I wasn’t sure what to expect.  I made the mistake of taking it on an empty stomach and felt a familiar gnawing sensation about 20 minutes later (ulcer-related).  Ugh.

After about 45 minutes of cautious waiting, I felt the first wave of adrenaline-pumping energy crash over me.  While working on my paper for Bioethics class, I suddenly felt like I could write a manifesto.  I had never been more articulate in my life!  Ideas flowed like water onto my college-ruled paper.   Breathing was jagged; my roommate told me to stop tapping my pen.  All this energy and focus from half a capsule!  The effects lasted a good 4 hours before tapering off for at least 2 more hours until I hit baseline.

Looking back, I’m very glad I started with half a capsule since the effects were so intense.  I’d recommend Black Spider to all ephedra fans or anyone looking for a cheap stimulant high.  One thing I forgot to mention is that I couldn’t eat a bite until the next morning after dosing, so plan accordingly.  Ephedra was famous for its appetite suppressant effects for a reason.  This stuff could be really dangerous if you have a heart condition or combine it with other stimulants, so please be careful.

July Review: BronkAid

Buy Bronkaid 24 Coated Caplets Here!

In my search for the perfect summertime stimulant, I recently came across Bronkaid—one of the last OTC meds containing ephedrine.  Great!  I was way into Mini Thins before the FDA banned ephedra supplements in ’04.   Bronkaid contains 25 mg ephedrine + 400 mg guaifenesin and is intended to treat bronchial asthma.   Perfect 🙂

I decided to reacquaint myself with my old friend on a Saturday afternoon before hitting my favorite local club.  I took two tablets with a tall glass of water on a semi-full stomach.  (To avoid that gnawing feeling you get when you haven’t eaten).  I felt the first alerts about halfway through my shower—skin tingles and a wave of obsessive euphoria that caused me to rinse and re-rinse my hair for about 20 minutes too long.  I decided to boost the high with a little black tea before leaving the house (caffeine combines well w/ ephedrine in low doses FYI).  By the time we arrived at the club, I was really amped!  I felt an energetic push that made me want to talk to everyone and dance my arse off, even though the music was a little lame that night.

Overall, Bronkaid is a great OTC option if you’re into stimulants.  Some people use it as a workout supplement, but I find that risky since it raises blood pressure.  Definitely suppresses appetite, especially when taken w/ caffeine (also risky).  Compared to Primatene tablets—which contain only 12 mg ephedrine per dose—Bronkaid is an excellent deal.

June Review: Novoandina Coca Powder

Buy Novoandina Yungas Gold Organic Here!

…yes, that coca.  The same leaf used to produce cocaine can now be found all over the internets for a very reasonable price.  I decided to go with Novoandina because of its glowing reviews and relatively low cost.

It arrived tightly sealed in a nice tin can four days after ordering.   The earthy aroma was the first thing to hit me when I opened the tin.  I busted out a cup and boiled some water, eager to try this sacred Bolivian treat.  Failing to find the measuring cups, I dropped 5 heaping tablespoons of powder into a cup of hot water, stirred and sipped away.  Not bad!  The taste is pretty similar to regular green tea and goes well with a bit of sugar or honey.

Effects crept in around 10 minutes after my first gulp and included increased energy, minor visual changes and slight restlessness.  I’d rank the stimulation somewhere between yerba mate and espresso, though coca definitely had its own unique effects that are hard to categorize.  Most notably, there was none of the edgy jitteriness of caffeine, which tends to make me irritable and moody.  Just clean, smoothe stimulation in a glass.

Coca is rich not only in cocaine alkaloids, but also in vitamins and minerals.  (Coca-Cola still uses de-cocainized coca leaves in their recipe, FYI).  It can be added to foods, brewed into tea or chewed for its beneficial effects.  Next time, I plan to chew a “quid” of coca + baking soda, as I’ve heard it’s more effective that way.

Review: Wicked Herbal Incense

Buy Wicked Herbal Incense!

Wicked is one of the most well-known names in the herbal incense business, but is the hype justified?  I aimed to find out for myself when I purchased a three-pack of product.  When it arrived, I was really in the mood to smoke up so I took it upstairs to sample it with my brother, J.  He’s a true connoisseur of the legal AND illegal smoking blends, so I knew I could trust his opinion.

Upon unscrewing the cap, I was hit with a wave of strawberry aroma that was pleasant, if a little too strong.  I packed a bowl to the top with the plant material and proceeded to spark it up.  The burn was pretty intense, but so was the high that followed.  Almost TOO strong for my taste.  After two hits, I had to go lie down immediately to try and get my bearings.  After 5 minutes of sheer anxiety, the high mellowed out and was pretty enjoyable.  For about 15 minutes.  Hmph.

To sum it up, Wicked Incense is 1.) Smelly, 2.) Potent and 3.) Short-lived.  When the haze lifted, I ascended back up the stairs to get my brother’s take on it.  His rating:  8 out of 10.

Welcome Friends (& Haters!)

Well, hello again friends!  As you’ve noticed, we at Forbidden Fruit have picked up and moved from Blog.com to WordPress.  If you’re wondering why we made the move, the answer is simple:  our content was found to be in “violation” of Blog.com’s Terms of Service and blah, blah, blah.  All signs point to snitching by an angry Twitter whore (whose name I shall not reveal *just* yet).  Be warned:  If you disagree with our general premise of harm reduction, free sharing of information and factual accuracy, you are not welcome here.  Keep it movin’.

Luckily, the format hasn’t changed much since Blog.com is basically a rip off of WordPress’s design (zing!).  We encourage you to take a look around the site and leave feedback or questions.  This is an interactive blog and we want to hear from YOU!
